Vodafone
Half of VodafoneThree since June 2025, running a distinct national estate and supplying capacity to VOXI and Lebara.
An established national operator now inside the country's largest ownership group, running its own separate estate — and the one whose coverage map is moving fastest as two networks merge.
§1Background
Vodafone is among the longest-established operators in the country and has run its own national infrastructure throughout. Since June 2025 it has formed half of VodafoneThree, the largest operator by customer numbers.
Both brands continue to sell separately while the estates are combined under a large capital programme.
| Detail | Position |
|---|---|
| Ownership | VodafoneThree, from June 2025 |
| Capacity sold to | VOXI, run by Vodafone, and Lebara |
| Estate | Distinct from Three's, O2's and EE's — check it separately |
| Consolidation | Coverage at a given postcode is changing more than in ordinary years |

§2What is offered
| Service | What you are actually buying |
|---|---|
| SIM plans | Rolling monthly, fixed terms and unlimited tiers |
| Phone contracts | Handset and airtime combined over 24–36 months |
| Pay as you go | Available; VOXI and Lebara usually cheaper for regular use |
| eSIM | Issued in minutes on recent handsets, free through official channels |
| Home broadband | Fixed-line services over Openreach |
| Roaming | Varies by plan generation; your app's roaming screen is the authority |
Because this is a separate estate, a coverage result obtained on any other network tells you nothing about it. The checkers must be run again.
§3SIM plans
| Term | Who it suits |
|---|---|
| One month, rolling | Anyone whose coverage or address is unproven |
| Twelve or twenty-four months | Settled households, with the end date diarised |
| Unlimited | Heavy data users, subject to the qualifications below |
Where unlimited is qualified. Unmetered on the handset at home; bent in three places:
- Tethering capped on some plan generations despite the headline.
- Brief queueing at extremely saturated masts for outliers only.
- A fair-use ceiling everywhere abroad, then per-gigabyte charging.
Sizing the allowance. Your network app records real consumption. Three months of it, plus modest headroom, is the figure to buy — the gap between estimate and reality is commonly around double.
§4Phone contracts
The standard combined bundle, with a credit check on the device element. The end-of-term position is the same as elsewhere: the monthly figure does not fall by itself.
Test any proposal with one sum — upfront plus monthly times months, against the handset outright plus the cheapest suitable SIM.

§5Pay as you go
Credit-based, with no contract and no credit check. For regular use, VOXI and Lebara on the identical masts are generally better value.
§6Bills, month to month
| Figure | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Post-discount price | The real price; introductory rates have a stated duration |
| Out-of-contract figure | Continues unchanged until you act |
| Spend cap | Free, and the main defence against charges beyond the allowance |
§7Price changes
Mid-contract increases must be stated in pounds and pence before signature since January 2025. A bill comes down through SIM-only at term end, a right-sized allowance, add-ons instead of upgrades, competing quotes, or departure.
§8Verify before you commit
- Run Vodafone's own checker and Ofcom's — independently of any result from another network.
- Audition for a rolling month through VOXI or Lebara.
- Re-check coverage annually while the two estates are being merged.
- Read your plan's roaming screen before booking any trip.

§10Joining
§11Leaving
Switching runs on two text messages and requires no conversation.
| Code | What it does |
|---|---|
| Text PAC to 65075 | Carries your number across. Free, back within minutes, valid thirty days. |
| Text STAC to 75075 | Closes the account without carrying the number. |
| The reply | Itemises any term charge and device balance before you commit. |
Your provider may not refuse the code, delay it, attach conditions, or make a retention call a precondition of leaving.
